Community pharmacies situated within the Three Rivers District Council – Free domestic abuse training
J9 is free domestic abuse training with the primary aim to raise awareness of domestic abuse amongst local public facing businesses and services across all sectors to produce “Community Champions”. The training will provide attendees with an understanding of the various types of abuse, to recognise the signs and what support is available locally. Attendees with then become “community Champions”. Champions will then be a point of contact within their business to be able to provide victims with a safe space to explain what services they could access, and to allow victims to contact services/make a self-referral from their establishment.
Three Rivers is unique within Hertfordshire around the type of domestic abuse support they are able to offer as a partnership. They provide support for standard, medium and high risk victims – these services work closely together so “community champions” won’t be expected to risk assess. In addition, they will shortly be launching a service for standard-medium risk perpetrators of domestic abuse, to allow them to support to change their behaviour and beliefs that lead to this behaviour.
This initiative would allow those affected by domestic abuse to access help and support as early as possible.
Training places can be booked on the Three Rivers Council website.
