COMMUNITY PHARMACIES APPLYING TO DELIVER PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES FROM 01 APRIL 2019

Hertfordshire community pharmacies are invited to apply to deliver public health services from 01 April 2019 to 31 March 2020.

Here is the guidance and the application process will be open from 01 February 2019.  All applications must be submitted by 22 February 2019, to phinvoices@hertfordshire.gov.uk.

Pharmacies may apply to deliver one or both services on offer: sexual health and/or stop smoking.

Applications will be reviewed and considered in week commencing 25 February 2019. Here is the application form.

Pharmacies will be contacted by letter outlining if they have been accepted for an award of contract in early March 2019.  All contracts will commence on 01 April 2019.

New providers will be issued with a contract.  If pharmacies are applying for an additional service then a variation to the current contract will be issued.

Commissioners will have the right to not award a contract if the relevant pharmacy staff have not completed the training within agreed timescales.

It is the responsibility of the pharmacy to complete the form correctly and submit within the timescale.  The Council will discount the application if it has not been completed correctly or it has not been submitted by the deadline of 5pm on 22 February 2019.

Contract Payment Claims

Please note that there have been changes to the way in which 2016-17 contract payments are claimed. A quick guide to payment amounts and claims can be found here.

Please note all payments for Public Health services are automated and paid quarterly by Quit Manager and PharmOutcomes. All activity must be recorded using these systems to ensure payment is made before the end of each quarter. It is advised to input direct into the PharmOutcomes database while delivering the public health services. If the Provider does not have an internet device within the consultation room it is recommended that the data is transferred on to the database as soon as possible but must upload data within 10 days of the consultation in order to secure payment. No payments will be made via paper claims.

Public Health Resources and Information

Information about current public health initiatives linked to services can be found on the LPC website: http://www.hertslpc.org.uk/pharmacy-resources/resources-and-information/.

DBS Checks

DBS checks are provided by Hertfordshire County Council (HCC). Please contact Phinvoices@hertfordshire.gov.uk  or by calling the admin team on 01438 844088 who will put you in contact with the right person to arrange this. Each DBS check costs £60.00 (which is made up of £44.00 for the DBS check itself and £16.00 to administrate the check).

In addition, the LPC strongly encourage you once you have received the updated DBS check from HCC, to then register for the update service online (https://www.gov.uk/dbs-update-service). It is cheaper than renewing on a three yearly basis with no additional administration costs.
