The ‘Shape Up’ Male Only Weight Management Scheme

The ‘Shape Up’ male-only weight management scheme will run one night per week over the course of 12 weeks, starting in February, in the form of hour-and-a-half sessions.

These sessions will include a mix of nutritional education and individually designed physical activity programmes, with participation in the course free-of-charge.  The sessions are available to men who are 18-50 years olds,  Hertfordshire residents and a BMI of over 28.

The new scheme, commissioned by Hertfordshire County Council and created and delivered by Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust, Dr Ian Hamilton said: “We know that being overweight and a lack of physical fitness can contribute to a number of health issues, such as diabetes, cancer, heart problems, stroke and depression, so this course is an excellent way to start addressing these issues as part of a supportive group.”

Further information on the weight management scheme can be viewed on the website Shape Up Herts. If your pharmacy would like copies of the ‘Shape up’ weight management leaflets please contact Andrew Garlick via email at or telephone 01923496391 or 07827806025.
