Herts Domestic Abuse Helpline
Herts Domestic Abuse Helpline is a registered charity which provides a confidential and anonymous FREEPHONE service for anyone affected by domestic abuse. Their 40 trained volunteers listen non-judgmentally to what the caller tells them before signposting them to organisations that can help them. Thus each caller receives a personalised service. The decision as to what to do next remains with the caller. They take around 2,000 calls a year of which around a third come from professionals who may have clients with them.
As many victims may visit a pharmacy over the course of a year they we would like to provide resources to community pharmacies both for their own information and also to give out to customers. They are essentially a ‘one stop shop’ number if pharmacy staff need advice. An example of what can be provided can be viewed here: https://bit.ly/2No7MSM
Pharmacies can be provided with free resources: a poster and purple cards (business card size) of which pharmacies can keep a small supply. Resources can be ordered by contacting: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Herts Domestic Abuse Helpline would welcome pharmacists and their staff to join their network of Domestic Abuse Champions. Free training is provided that takes half a day.
