NMSmail roll-out to Hertfordshire and West Essex Sustainability and transformation Partnership Care Homes

NMSmail roll-out to Hertfordshire and West Essex Sustainability and transformation Partnership Care Homes

June 21, 2019

A new project has been launched to roll-out NHSmail to care homes, including learning disability and mental health, across the Hertfordshire and West Essex STP. As an accredited email system, NHSmail allows the fast and secure communication of resident data without the need for unsafe alternatives such as faxing.

The project is being delivered by Herts Care Providers Association (HCPA) who are offering free training and support to care homes between now and September this year. This includes information on completing the annual NHS Data Security & Protection Toolkit (previously known as the Information Governance Toolkit) which a care home must do before accessing NHSmail.

The expectation is that by October, all care homes should be using NHSmail to communicate sensitive information. We would encourage you to spread this message to any care homes you are regularly in contact with. We will also keep you informed as to when care homes achieve their NHSmail account likely to be by monthly updates.

Separately, around 60 care homes were granted NHSmail addresses as part of an earlier project in 2017. The addresses of these care homes are on the LPC website to use for future sensitive correspondence. Any questions, please contact nhsmail@hcpa.info
