In this NHS-led flagship programme, you will develop your leadership and management skills to enable you to drive quality services in community pharmacy and make a difference to the health of the people you see in your practice. The Mary Seacole Leadership Programme looks at why leadership matters, and encourages you to learn more about you. You will gain more insight into your own behaviours and develop attitudes and behaviours  to support you in your role as a leader and meeting your responsibilities within the wider team.

This is an opportunity to continue to build on the leadership training that you may have already done for HLP accreditation and to complete a nationally recognised NHS Leadership Academy development programme, which will award you with the NHS Leadership Academy Award in Healthcare Leadership.

You may have already completed some leadership training for Healthy Living Pharmacy accreditation and be thinking ‘why should I spend more time on leadership training?’ The programme is perfect to take your leadership skills to the next level, and takes a broader perspective in addressing the key skills, attitudes and behaviours needed to provide quality services and make a difference to the healthcare of patients. Pharmacy is changing, and a key theme throughout the programme is ‘something has changed; and what does that mean?’ helping you think about how you will navigate change successfully.

There is usually a fee for this programme, but your places are being fully funded via the Pharmacy Integration Fund (PhIF); an opportunity not to be missed.

The programme runs for six months, consisting of an online platform and three study days available across England, preparing you for the demands of leadership in the healthcare system today.

A short video about the programme, details of locations and dates, and information about how to apply can be found on the CPPE leadership for community pharmacy webpage.

To apply, first register for an account on the NHSx website. Then, access and complete the application form for this programme at:https://nhsx.uk/programmes/mary-seacole-programme-community-pharmacy.
