CPPQ – Learning Campaign

CPPQ – Learning Campaign

October 25, 2018

The CPPE  learning campaign has started this week. Here is a direct link to the learning campaign on their website , www.cppe.ac.uk/medicines-people-value.  The learning each week will be linked to the NHS England Medicines Value Programme. Medicines optimisation is an area where all pharmacy professionals can have an impact and they have highlighted some key messages below about the 4 weekly themes of the campaign and how they can be linked to pharmacy practice.  Each week there will be a short piece of e-learning linked to a different topic and by the end of the 4 weeks each pharmacy professional should be able to complete at least 4 pieces of evidence to support with revalidation, including a peer discussion and reflective summary. Leaflets with further information here and here.

Week 1: Medicines Value Programme – developing our roles

During this week there will be a #WePh twitter chat on Thursday 26th October – with an opportunity to discuss developing pharmacy roles. They have a number of great learning opportunities in the East of England region this semester which can help pharmacy professionals in their ongoing development e.g.

  • Clinical Medication Review study day event – 16th January – Hatfield.
  • Confidence in consultation skills day event – 3rd March 2019 – Brentwood
  • Optimise webinars – see flyer attached with how to book – webinars taking place 27th and 29th November

Week 2: Medicines Waste

Pharmacies could link their campaign to their upcoming campaign on waste reduction “Open the bag” to increase the profile and key messages about what pharmacy professionals can do to reduce waste and optimise care for patients through effective MURs and medication reviews. They will be encouraging everyone to make a pledge to demonstrate what impact they can have on reducing waste.

Week 3: Falls prevention

Falls effect everyone in the healthcare system and pharmacy professionals are well placed to provide information to patients about managing the risk of falls and contributing to optimising medicines. There was a fantastic buzz in the room at the recent Falls prevention workshop in Hemel Hempstead last week. There are further events planned in the region in Borehamwood on 22nd November and in Cambridge on 24th January.

Week 4: Antimicrobial Stewardship

CPPE will be promoting the role of pharmacy teams during Antibiotic awareness week and how they can play a key part in supporting the national antimicrobial resistance campaign.
