Automatic distribution of Drug Tariff to cease

Automatic distribution of Drug Tariff to cease

January 7, 2019

Community pharmacies are reminded that they must opt-in to continue to receive paper Drug Tariffs in 2019, otherwise access to the Drug Tariff will be via the electronic or online versions only.
NHS England will stop automatically sending monthly printed copies of the Drug Tariff to community pharmacies after the January 2019 edition and community pharmacy teams are being encouraged to make use of the electronic or online versions of the Drug Tariff (see:

Contractors may also find PSNC’s monthly ‘Drug Tariff Watch’ article helpful in preparing for upcoming changes.

Details of how to opt-in are outlined below, but please note that any pharmacy choosing not to opt-in will still receive one paper Drug Tariff each year (in January). Any queries should be directed to Primary Care Support England (PCSE) via or 0333 014 2884.

How can I opt-in to receive the paper Drug Tariff?
To continue receiving your monthly printed Drug Tariff copy for February 2019 and each month thereafter, an email request must be sent to before the 10 January 2019 deadline. In your email please state that you wish to opt-in to receive the monthly hard copy Drug Tariff from 2019 and provide:

  • Your name
  • Your business name and address
  • F-code/ODS code*
  • Any days you are not open and alternative delivery instructions for those days

*This code appears at the top of your monthly FP34 Schedule of Payments.

Further information including some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) is available on the PSNC website.
