Confidence in Consultation skills day event
Sunday, 15 May, 2016 10am - 4.30pm
Ramada Hotel, Hatfield
Hertfordshire LPC is running a further Confidence in Consultation Skills event in Hertfordshire.
Conducting patient consultations is something most of us do as part of our role as pharmacy professionals. Reflecting on our clinical skills and the evidence based information we provide comes naturally but how often do you reflect on the consultation, the skills and behaviours you demonstrate? How do you know you really get it right each time and ensure both you and the patient enter into a discussion as equal partners and achieve shared decision making which supports a patient-centred approach?
Why not sign up for this event in May – there are limited places so book now to secure your place. There will be interactive presentations and group exercises in the morning session and the highlight for many will be working with professional patient actors in the afternoon. We will also share some useful tips on how to pass the assessment. Demonstrating that you are developing your consultation skills and working towards the Practice Standards for pharmacy consultations is a core competence within the Declaration of Competence (DoC) model. So if you are a community pharmacist and thinking of delivering an enhanced service such as EHC or Chlamydia treatment or perhaps delivering the flu vaccination service then this is an excellent workshop to show commissioners that you are reflecting on and developing your consultation skills.
This event is suitable for all pharmacists, pre-regs and pharmacy technicians who have a patient facing role and is ideal to support you in any of the following areas:
- Consultations for enhanced services such as emergency contraception, chlamydia screening and treatment, stop smoking, flu vaccination etc
• Medication Reviews
• Counselling prior to hospital discharge
• The New Medicine Service and Medication Use Reviews
• Consultations by independent prescribers
• Ensuring timely consultations that are satisfying for both patient and professional
• OTC consultations
